In December 2006, Dow Golub Berg & Beverly founding partner, J. Beverly became Board Certified in Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Mr. Beverly practices primarily in the areas of civil appeals, commercial and civil litigation and real estate.

In June 2006, Dow Golub Berg & Beverly successfully represents four national civil rights organizations as amicus curiae before the United States Supreme Court.

In January 2006, Dow Golub Berg & Beverly wins election contest in the Texas Supreme Court. J. Beverly and Geoffrey Berg represented Houston attorney, Jim Sharp, in his fight to secure a place on the Texas Democratic Party’s primary ballot as a candidate for the First Court of Appeals, Place 9. After Dow Golub Berg & Beverly filed an emergency petition for writ of mandamus on behalf of Mr. Sharp, the Texas Supreme Court ruled that any technical defects in his filing documents could be easily remedied and ordered the Democratic Party to place him on the primary ballot as a candidate.
