Adriana M. Cortes

Adriana M. Cortes is a 2001 Honors graduate of St. Mary’s University and she received her law degree in 2006 from the University of Houston Law Center where she graduated cum laude. Ms. Cortes is licensed to practice before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas and before all state courts in Texas. Fluent in Spanish, Ms. Cortes practices in the area of litigation, focusing on business and employment disputes. She also has experience in various types of litigation and civil disputes including collections, foreclosures, copyright infringement, consumer rights, personal injury, and probate matters.

Ms. Cortes’ past experience includes:

• Participating in various successful trials involving business and employment disputes.

• Successfully representing company at trial in lawsuit for breach of fiduciary duty, misappropriation of trade secrets, and interference with perspective business and contractual relations, against employees that left to form a competing business.

• Successfully assisting to obtain a take nothing judgment against oil machine tool company in suit for allegedly unpaid commissions by former sales employee.

• Successfully assisting to obtain a winning jury verdict in a breach of contract case against a high-rise developer.

• Assisting in a favorable settlement for an employee in a religious discrimination case who was terminated for not working on the day of the Sabbath.

• Assisting in a favorable settlement for surviving family members in a wrongful death suit against a bus company.

• Defending a tenant in a wrongful eviction and interruption of utilities case.

• Successfully arguing many pretrial hearings.
